Noah23 x Fresh Kils bring you “Jazz Man”

For the third single from their upcoming album, Tuff Racket, Noah23 x Fresh Kils channels the vibe of 90s jazz rap with assistance from Peter Scherzinger on trumpet.

For the third single from their upcoming album, Noah23 x Fresh Kils channel the jazz rap sound made popular in the 90s. Think Digable Planets, Guru’s Jazzmatazz, and Us3. To get that authentic sound, the duo are joined by guest Peter Scherzinger on trumpet. His work on the hook provides a killer Miles Davis vibe. This chill collab basks in the maturity of the genre, proving you can get older and the music can reflect that while still staying true to the craft. But don’t expect old man raps from Noah; he keeps to his certified classic cosmic and mystical lyricism with an exceptionally dialled in cadence. “Jazz Man” reveals a different side of the duo and provides a reprieve from the banging boom bap bops that make up much of the rest of Tuff Racket.

A video filmed and directed by Analog Child is out alongside the single.

Heatwave Listening Party

Join Hand’Solo Records and whoever from Backburner that can make it for this retrospective listening party for their debut album, Heatwave, in celebration of our 30th Anniversary. Heatwave is probably still my favourite album in their trilogy that also include Eclipse and Continuum, mostly because this album features pretty much the whole crew and has some of their most experimental and weird songs. The Backburner crew take time out of their individual projects to combine for a new song in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of their label, Hand’Solo Records. The shit’s so phat it had to be the first single for the label’s celebratory compilation, Bassments of Badmen 4. Over a slamming boom bap beat courtesy of Peter Project, each of the 8 MCs brings their own unique style for a lesson in how hip hop should be done. A bit of humour, a lot of braggadocio, and all skills! Backburner run wild!

Listening Party for Sensational x The Dirty Sample’s The Spot Rocker

Since we don’t have a new album dropping in June, we’ll be doing two retrospective listening parties to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Hand’Solo Records. The first is on Sunday, June 21 at 8 PM EDT, and it’s for The Spot Rocker from Sensational x The Dirty Sample. It was awesome to get the chance to release an album by Sensational, and I was able to team him with one of my favourite producers working with the label, The Dirty Sample. This combo turned out something different within the Sensational catalogue, and it’s an album I’m very proud to have released to the people. I hope you will join us for this listening party. And smoke ’em if you got ’em because this is a great album for stoners!

The second single from Noah23 and Fresh Kils’ upcoming album, Tuff Racket, is out now!!

For the second single from their upcoming collaboration album, Tuff Racket, Noah23 x Fresh Kils tap the talents of ShrapKnel’s PremRock, a frequent collaborator of Fresh Kils. This time around, Kils provides a sunny, synthy, summer jam that somehow still has a darkness to it. Maybe it’s the drums. Still, iIt’s a perfect dichotomy that suits the subject matter, and the stripped back beat puts the focus squarely on the lyrics. For those, Noah23 and PremRock combine concepts of anti-capitalism, drug culture, movie references, and battle rap braggadocio. “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” reveals a trio of artists that combine for a powerful hop hop combo.
