“[H]as that grit and darkness of the daily grind of a professional wrestler but also can make me think of back when The Beats were a movement…” – Raised by Cassettes
A new review of the cassette version of Max Moon’s The Grand Howl by Raised by Cassettes…
Winter Dreamz is Cold Camp at full frost. A cinematic boom bap record carved out of cold nights, cracked concrete, and heavy snow. The Dirty Sample’s production drops dusty drums, chopped grime, and crunchy loops that feel ripped from a forgotten tape deck and rewired for the present. Bully Bravo and Chaka Boy move through the album like winter veterans: sharp, unflinching, and fully in control. No filler, no softness. Just hard-earned perspective, street poetry, and raw conviction over beats that keep your head bouncing. Winter Dreamz is classic boom bap energy with a modern weight to it. No trends chased. No corners cut. Winter Dreamz is cold, deliberate, and built to last.
Written and performed by Chaka Boy and Bully Bravo Produced by The Dirty Sample
The sophomore album from Cold Camp is dropping on January 30 through Hand’Solo Records. Listening party for the album tonight (Saturday) at 7:30 PM EST…
Indie Rock Magazine writer Seb Lapin aka Rabbit recently published his list of his Top 180 Hip Hop Albums for 2025 and it includes some fine music. On that list are two albums from Hand’Solo Records. Alas, neither made the Top 49 included in the visual, but Kaboom Atomic x The Dirty Sample’s 2 Cents lands at #75 and Max Moon’s The Grand Howl lands at 142. Awesome!
We hope you will join us on Saturday, January 24 at 7:30 PM EST for the Bandcamp listening party of Cold Camp’s sophomore album, Winter Dreamz, officially dropping the following Friday on digital and cassette. RSVP for the listening party or pre-order the album here.
“The track produced by Canadian legend Moka Only is a laid-back cut with retro, underground stylings, underpinned by offbeat rapping and storytelling.” – Word Is Bond
Another review for Epic’s “Hathaway’s Diner”, the second single from his upcoming album, Heater In My Truck II.
The second single from Epic’s Heater In My Truck II is out now!
On this freestyle track that also serves as the second single to Heater In My Truck II, his upcoming new album dropping February 27, 2026 on Hand’Solo Records, Prairie rap legend Epic is joined by Emprime for this ode to local eatery Hathaway’s Diner over a spacey boom bap funk groove courtesy of Juno Award winner Moka Only. While the intro and chorus name drops the diner, Epic and Prime also touch on additional topics such as being an aging rapper, living in Canada, and there is even an homage to the Smoothe da Hustler classic “Broken Language”. “Hathaway’s Diner” is new school rap with old school ideals.
