Touch and T. Perk’s Journey To The West is a hip hop-infused allegory based on the original tales of Sun Wukong, The Monkey King, of 20th Century Chines lore. The score, provided by Thomas Adams (aka T. Perk) provides an Eastern-influenced soundscape sourced from cassettes of folks songs rescued from various traditional Chinese markets. Written by Randy Mark (aka Touch), an emcee born and raised in Edmonton, AB, Journey To The West is a story of finding true hip hop by fighting its many demons. Touch does battle with his selfishness, vengeance and greed through his journey of self-discovery, acceptance and inclusiveness, while learning to overcome his ego, all with the help of a monk-like DJ and cantankerous producer he befriends on his journey. 

The newly-released accompanying short film or visual album of Journey to the West was filmed, directed and edited by Touch, who shot it in the style of a play. While travelling throughout Alberta—the beautiful Treaty 6, 7, and 8 territories, through Jasper, Banff, Drumheller and the Okotoks, as well as Edmonton and Elk Island National Park—Touch, an all-powerful emcee, learns that there is more to hip hop than just rapping and making money. By the end of his journey, Touch learns that hip hop is an art with many elements that come together to form a dynamic and esteemed culture.
