Home Bass > Ultra Magnus & DJ SLAM! – Thirst Trap video

“Thirst Trap” is the first single off Toronto hip hop duo Ultra Magnus & DJ SLAM!’s sophomore album, Magnus Opus. A happy-go-lucky, boom-bap summer jam inspired by A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast and Slick Rick, “Thirst Trap” is also an ode to the thot (ie – a girl that seeks attention, who would be thoroughly obsessed with Instagram and the art of thot-ing). Produced by DJ SLAM!, the song samples a cover of The Smiths’ “This Charming Man” by Canadian indie band STARS, pitched down slightly and laid over drums.

The video for “Thirst Trap” is directed and edited by Rayne Reilly, features choreography from Jaden Hong, and dancers Cora Ho, Diamond Osoteo, Amy Vo, and Eujean Kim. Cameo appearances are made by friends and fellow performers Wordburglar, Champa and Chris Frank.

Magnus Opus drops Sept. 2, 2016 on Hand’Solo Records. The CD release party is held on that same evening at The Garrison, 1197 Dundas St. West, Toronto, and features a heavy lineup. Entry fee includes a freshly pressed copy of the project.
