Filthy Animals – “Don’t Need Her” video and DJ Pack

“Don’t Need Her” is Winnipeg rap duo Filthy Animals’ 4th single off of their latest album, Still Filthy. released November 30, 2018 on Hand’Solo Records. Combining elements of pop, traditional hip hop and trap, the production is a modern merging of sonics. The song starts with a notoriously infectious hook that rockets the listener straight into the grimy world of the filthy duo. The visuals for “Don’t Need Her” were shot at Teasers Palace in Winnipeg, MB, and stars Playboy model Zamy Wens as an overworked woman who has finally had enough. Directed by Dag of Natural Aspects Promotions, what begins as the usual rap video takes a sudden and interesting turn. The single is also available as a free digital DJ Pack with album, clean, instrumental, and acapella versions, plus a slamming, dancefloor-filling remix from Abstract Artform.

Written and performed by Big Bear & Pnutty
Produced by Pnutty, except tracks 5 and 6 remixed by Abstract Artform

Chaps picks 5.1.nine.0.2. for Best Of 2018 list

It was very exciting to learn that Saskatoon podcaster (Third Verse) and tastemaker DJ Chaps selected an album from Hand’Solo Records to grace his Top Ten Records (vinyl) of 2018. The only fully Canadian group on the list, 5.1.nine.0.2. comes in at #5 with their debut album When a Name is Just a Number. It’s a great record that should be on more Best Of lists for 2018, but thank you to Chaps for recognizing the quality. His year-end show for You Know The Rules, features one track from each of his album picks…

Whatevski – Blast Off DJ Pack featuring Touch & Mindbender

Step out into an eerie world with veteran space age rappers Touch (Edmonton, AB) and Mindbender (Toronto, ON), their big, bold boasts and braggadocio delivered with a voice and tone that demands the listener join them on the journey. “Blast Off” is the second single from E. Whatevski’s Cult Classics album, his production for this song simple yet epic, and constantly changing; the drums hit haaaard and Wal Martian provides some deadly, deep keyboard work. As a special bonus, the “single version” has an additional section of cuts from the infamous DJ WeezL, and the free-to-download DJ Pack also contains chilled remixes from Moves and Wal Martian, as well as all instrumentals and an acapella to create your own remix. “Blast Off” is a certified, out-of-this-world banger, so download and share with confidence!

Candy & Coombs at #50 on Joyful Union’s Top 100 Cassettes of 2018

Joyful Union Cassette Blog has just recently published their list of Top 100 Cassettes of 2018, and narrowly making the first half at #50 is The Dirty Sample and Max Prime as Crash Silverback & Max Muthaphukin’ Stax with their previously unreleased collab project Candy & Coombs. The list is also presented as a mixed series of four sets of 25 songs. The audio is published on Mixcloud so you can’t fast forward or rewind, but if you don’t mind listening through an hour of mostly chill hip hop instrumentals, the last song is a little something from Candy & Coombs.

Or visit their Mixcloud site to listen to this episode and others, and to also see the full list of 100 cassettes that they picked: https://www.mixcloud.com/JoyfulUnionCassetteBlog/joyful-union-cassette-blog-top-26-50-cassettes-of-2018/
